Yoga, a practise originated in India about 5000 years ago, is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing. The main components of yoga are postures (a series of movements designed to increase strength and flexibility) and breathing.
Yoga is for everyone! The intensity of your yoga workout depends on which form of yoga you choose. Techniques like Hatha and Iyengar yoga are gentle and slow. Bikram and Power yoga are faster and more challenging.
The relaxation techniques incorporated in yoga can lessen chronic pain as well as well as help manage stress. Yoga can be very effective in developing coping skills and reaching a more positive outlook on life.
